Joann and Dimitri‘s love story started in New Jersey where they live, but they turned their wedding day into a hometown celebration in Campbell, OH, where Dimitri’s family roots lie. Their June wedding was full of rich cultural heritage, with a traditional Greek ceremony at Archangel Michael Greek Orthodox Church. This was my first time experiencing the traditional Greek wedding ceremony, and I was so moved by the beauty and meaning saturating every aspect of the marriage vows. From the exchange of rings to their first steps around the altar as husband and wife, the ceremony was such a beautiful presentation of Joann and Dimitri’s commitment to each other and the start of their marriage journey.
Afterwards, we headed to bridal party portraits, which we breezed through in record timing! No small feat, given we had 20+ people in this bridal party! Everyone was so courteous and organized, which made things stress-free for the bride and groom. We loaded back up on the trolley and made our way to The Maronite Center for the big party, and man was it a party!! The newlyweds live out of state, and so many people from far and wide travelled to come celebrate with them. The toasts brought us all to tears, the cookie table was filled to the brim with a variety of desserts, and the dance floor was raging! Traditional Greek dancing at a wedding is an experience, y’all! Dollar bills flew through the air, and circles of guests surrounded the bride and groom as they danced the night away. What. A. Party.
