The idea of taking newborn portraits in your home with a rambunctious toddler and large dogs might sound overwhelming after coming home from the hospital with a tiny babe, but it does not have to be! This relaxed in home lifestyle newborn session with the Henderson family proves that you don’t need much, just a go with the flow attitude and some beautiful window light. And some espresso 😜 I loved the pockets of beautiful light tucked around Maggie and Zak’s home, and Maggie’s decor style is just so fun. She mixes family heirlooms with such lovely pieces of art around her home. Baby Lucy’s nursery was flooded with fabulous window light, and these guys had such trust in me to capture them as they are. If you’ve ever spent time with a three year old, you know they have a will and intentions all their own….and sometimes that’s putting it lightly, ha! Big sister Alice did great during our time together though, and I think my favorite moments were just hanging out on the floor of the nursery listening to Zak play his guitar while Maggie read books to Alice while Lucy slept on in her arms. Zak and Lucy headed off to the playground afterwards, and I captured some one on one portraits of just mama and baby. Our whole morning together was so enjoyable, and putting this post together makes me want this kind of newborn photo experience for every family bringing home a new little one ❤️

Congratulations Henderson family on your beautiful baby girl, it was a joy to meet her and capture your new family dynamic! I know I will blink and Lucy will soon be chasing her big sister around the house. For now, we froze these precious moments in time to enjoy years down the road.
