After Lauren and Matt got engaged last fall, they began planning their wedding day in eastern PA where they lived. BUT, Matt then accepted a job near Pittsburgh and they moved to Northeast Ohio, which was not a part of the original plan! Instead of postponing their wedding date, they decided to pivot and plan an intimate wedding day to exchange vows and celebrate their marriage with their parents and siblings present as witnesses. The newly built Idabelle Firestone Gathering Place in Firestone Park in Columbiana was the absolute perfect venue for Lauren and Matt’s day. The beautiful stone building was just opened this year, and the Jakse’s are the first wedding here! Their family gathered under the archway seated in anticipation as Lauren’s dad walked her up the pathway where Matt stood waiting for his bride. Never faltering, Lauren and Matt held each other’s hands and exchanged their vows, slipping gold bands on each other’s fingers. Family members took turns bringing jars of dirt from their homes to the couple, which they then poured into the pot of a tree that they will plant in the yard of their new home.

This chilly October weekend was calling for pouring rain the entire day, but we really lucked out and caught some windows of opportunity to take portraits! Lauren and Matt were just so happy and at ease and thrilled to be officially married, and you can absolutely see it in these images. Their wedding day was truly all about uniting as one, and it was a beautiful thing to be a witness to. After their portraits together with the stunning fall colors, we gathered in the meeting room inside the venue where they were seated with their families for a celebratory dinner. They shared a first dance and traditional parent dances, and everyone took a turn sharing a toast to the bride and groom. This day was such a reminder of what a wedding day is really all about, and it was an honor to tell Lauren and Matt’s story.
