Of course sunlight is always beautiful to photograph, but there’s something equally as magical about rainy day sessions!  Overcast skies just make all those greens so vibrant, and cloudy light is its own kind of beautiful. Ben’s cousins Andy and Melanie and their four kiddos have been visiting Ohio from Switzerland where they live, and it’s been so awesome getting to spend time with them while they have been in town. Their kids Nehemiah, Silas, Jonathan, and Lucy are the coolest, and have the sweetest sibling relationships. Lucy is just as rough and rowdy as her big brothers, and those boys love their sister in the sweetest way!  While the Owens were in Youngstown, we snagged an evening to make some beautiful Ohio portraits for them to take back home to Switzerland!  A crazy rainstorm ended just as we started, and the thunder started rolling and the lighting struck as we were wrapping up!  I think we perfectly captured Andy and Melanie and their incredible, fun-loving family.  No shortage of shenanigans with these guys!!  Make sure you scroll to the very bottom to see their faces when the lighting lit up the sky….you’ll get a good laugh for sure!

Ok this moment was probably my favorite from the whole shoot.  Andy and Melanie were taking photos just the two of them, when Andy looks at Melanie and sees a grey hair on top of her head!  He yanked it right from her scalp!!  Good thing it just made Melanie laugh and not cry, ha!

Melanie, you are the coolest mom.

This is a great summary of what life with three older brothers is like.  Not sure how Lucy even ended up there!

Aaaaand that’s a wrap…..there’s the lighting!  Run to the car!!
