Paige went on a date with Jacob not expecting to find her forever person. New to the Phoenix area, she decided to try out a dating app in an effort to meet new people and expand her social circles a bit. Jacob is originally from Montana, went to school in Boise, and had also just relocated to Phoenix for work. Having a similar idea of trying to meet some new people while in a brand new location for his job, he also decided to give a dating app a try! Well you better believe they both swiped right when matched with each other, and you could say the rest is history. Jacob is the steadfast to Paige’s whimsical, the calming presence to her crazy. She pushes him to dream big, and lights up his days with her infectious energy and joyfulness. I first met Paige last year when she was a bridesmaid in Melissa and Tyler’s wedding, and gosh I just love how paths cross in crazy ways! She asked me on that day if I ever travel to photograph weddings, and if I’d be willing to cross the country to be a part of her celebration when the time came. Well fast forward to the day that Jacob proposed to Paige on top of Bogus Basin Mountain, and they began planning their own wedding celebration! These two knew they wanted to do things a little differently, and an intimate wedding with just their parents and siblings in a gorgeous location was just the right fit for their wedding vision. We started putting all the pieces together, booked some flights and Airbnbs, and before we knew it their November wedding was here! It is always such an exciting thing to be able to travel to new places to be a part of someone’s story, and I pinch myself that I get to do this for my job! My jaw dropped as I left the Boise airport, the mountains surround the little town and stunning views are everywhere! Unreal!
The house Paige and Jacob rented out for their families was buzzing with energy when I arrived the morning of their wedding. Everyone was so excited for this day! One of my favorite things about Paige is her love for anything sentimental, especially hand-written letters. She and Jacob wrote letters to each other that they exchanged before heading to the chapel, and Paige also wrote letters for both of her parents on her wedding day. So sweet!! Well knowing that Paige loves all things sentimental, her friends from her hometown of Pittsburgh sent along a little surprise for her in my suitcase. They each wrote her letters to read on her wedding day, full of love and encouragement! Paige’s face as she flipped through the stack of familiar handwriting was just priceless. Before we knew it, it was time to head to the chapel! The historic Christ Chapel at Boise State University was the perfect venue for Paige and Jacob to exchange vows, with their family filling the front pews. Paige’s brother Shane officiated the ceremony, and Jacob and Paige wrote their own vows to each other. It was simple and sweet, and absolutely perfect. Following the ceremony, the newlyweds and I adventured around Boise for their portrait time! Freak Alley in downtown Boise is a collection of incredible graffiti artwork, and made the perfect backdrop for photos before we began the drive up to the top of Bogus Basin Mountain for sunset! We reached the top just as the incredible sunset colors began emerging, and we stood in the very spot where Jacob proposed to Paige just months before. The chilly temps didn’t stop these newlyweds from soaking in all the beauty around them as the sun dipped below the horizon, and I can’t think of a more magical way to spend your first hours as newlyweds.
Paige and Jacob, there are no words to tell you what this experience meant to me! Such an honor to be invited into the story of your wedding day, and I know this is just the beginning of your marriage adventure. Together you two are unstoppable! Congratulations my friends!
