We were prepared for a rainy wedding day, but Katy & Paul hit the weather jackpot for their special day at Spice Kitchen + Bar! I spent the morning in Avon with Katy and her girls as they finished getting ready, while raindrops steadily fell outside the window. Little did we know that just 20 minutes away at their venue, not a single drop of rain was falling! What luck!!! Katy was all smiles as her mama and best ladies helped her into her stunning lace gown, a gorgeous floral crown on top of her head. She shared a first look with her daddy, and off to Spice we went so she could meet her groom! I love when couples get to enjoy a relaxing morning getting ready for their big day, because it really sets the tone for enjoying their wedding day without any stress. Paul got to hang out with all his guys for lunch at Happy Dog, right across the street from Spice. While I was with the girls, Allison got to hang out with the gentlemen while they shared beers and dogs before heading back across the street to get dressed. With their bridal party and parents waiting in the wings, Katy and Paul finally got to see each other for the first time! Getting to see your spouse for the first time on your wedding day is such a sigh of relief! It’s like you can finally breathe and enjoy this day you’ve worked so hard to plan. After the big reveal, we had an awesome time taking portraits on the back patio of Spice with their amazing bridal party – half of who came all the way from Canada to stand by Paul’s side! Did I mention he is Canadian?!
One thing I especially loved about Katy and Paul’s wedding day is all the personal touches and pieces of family history that they incorporated. Katy wore pearl earrings that Paul got her for her birthday, their wedding bands were carried down the aisle on a piece of her grandmother’s wedding dress, their mothers read 1 Corinthians 13 in both English and Astonian, Paul’s native language. As they exited the church, dried flower petals from Paul’s family farm in Canada were tossed at them, and their reception was also filled with little touches of Paul’s home and projects they worked on together. Every element of their day was full of meaning and intention, and the result was the most beautiful day that they possibly could have planned. Their bohemian vibes and bright pops of color added to the joy of their day, and I am alllll about colors! Get ready for a lengthy blog post, because I just couldn’t narrow down my favorites!
Katy and Paul, thank you for trusting me 100% on your wedding day!! Getting to know you two has been such a joy, and you know you’re stuck with me forever now! Friends for life! I hope you are having the best honeymoon in Nova Scotia, enjoy reliving your beautiful wedding day!!!

This blue material is from Katy’s grandmother’s wedding dress! It was made into a pillow for their wedding bands!
That’s one proud dad!
Katy tied her late grandmother’s jewelry around her bouquet, to keep her memory close on her wedding day.
Meanwhile Allison got to hang out with this crew!

These bouquets!! Heights Floral Design knocked it out of the park with these beauties!
We snuck out of the party for just a few minutes to take some newlywed portraits! This amazing building was right down the street from the venue, I couldn’t pass it up!
