Summer Maternity Session | Youngstown OH | Michelle + Adam
The first time anyone ever asked me to take portraits for them, I literally had no idea what I was doing. I was taking film photography in college, and had a borrowed DSLR from a friend for my digital photography class that I didn’t even know how to turn on. So when I say I did not know what I was doing, I mean that in the truest sense!! When one of my dear roommates at the time got engaged and asked if I could snap a few engagement photos of them, I was hesitant to say the least. Their final images were truly the mark of a beginner, but thank goodness we can all get a good laugh at them now!
Fast forward 8 years later, and Michelle and Adam are STILL dear friends to me! Thank goodness for friendships like these! Life has taken the Browns on quite the adventure these past years as Michelle finished her schooling to become an optometrist. They now live in South Carolina, but lucky for me they have family still here in Ohio and Pennsylvania, so occasionally we still have the opportunity to see each other! Michelle and Adam are expecting their first little one in September, and it’s a GIRL! They were back in Ohio recently for their baby shower, so of course we had to squeeze in a maternity session into their visit. Michelle has always been such an encourager of my photography journey, following my blog and sharing my work with her family and friends. How thankful I am that she believed in me before this little business of mine was even a thought in my head! What an honor to be able to capture such a special season of life for Michelle and Adam, I am so excited to meet their daughter and just know that they are going to be the best parents ever. Baby Girl is already so loved!
Michelle and Adam, thank you for making the time on your whirlwind trip home to capture your maternity photos, and for trusting me with your memories! I’m so glad you were my first “clients,” and allowed me to learn and grow with this camera. Thank you for always believing in me! So much love for you both my friends!

Aww Carlyn your sweet words are so special! I knew you were a rare gem from the first time you were forced to sit by me! It’s easy to encourage such talent! Your skills and ability to capture a moment are truly one of a kind. I wish everyone could experience a CKP session, it was such a fun and relaxing experience! Love you forever!
