Stepping into Emmalee and Jamison’s home feels a bit like opening the door to an eclectic thrift shop.  Every nook and cranny of their cozy little nest is filled with treasures, from the shelves of books lining the living room, to the impressive vinyl collection dominating the dining room, and all the amazing random art hanging on the walls.  And Winston!  Emmalee and Jamison are the proud parents of one fluffy, furry kitty named Winston, and he is every bit as amazing as Emmalee told me he would be.  Their home is a reflection of themselves, and it makes you want to settle in, crack open a book, and stay for a while.  When we first started chatting about their Pittsburgh engagement session, they loved the idea of starting in their home in one of the city’s charming neighborhoods, and then adventuring out and about.  Which is of course my favorite way to do things!  We cracked open some wine, put on some Led Zeppelin, and Emmalee and Jamison shared so many great stories and so much laughter with me.  These two met while working as journalists for The Vindicator in Youngstown, and Emmalee commemorated the beginning of their relationship by framing their business cards next to each other (which of course I had to snap a picture of).  Spend just five minutes with them and you’ll see the easy way they love each other, and I especially love how Jamison can make Emmalee smile with just a look.  And she has the best smile!!  Their relationship is honest and genuine and filled to the brim with so much joy, and what an honor it was to capture these two as they are, in the place they have made their home.  It is so important to me to give people the space to allow them to be themselves, whatever that looks like.  It never ceases to amaze me how beautifully you can tell someone’s story when they just have enough room to share it.

Emmalee and Jamison are filling out these adorable little notebooks during their engagement!  I absolutely love this idea!  They will exchange their notebooks with each other on their wedding day, and I’ll probably just cry a lot when they do.
