Ever since I had the opportunity to study abroad in college, my travel-loving little heart just can’t get enough of European culture. Maybe it’s because America is still a baby compared to the history of other cultures, but you just don’t get the same feeling walking around U.S. cities as you do visiting Paris, or Rome, or Berlin. Well I was in my glory last week when Ben and I discovered the charming little town of Leavenworth, buried in the mountains (quite literally! smack in the middle of the mountains!) of Washington. Leavenworth is modeled on a Bavarian village, and every detail adheres to this theme! Every building, business sign, and architecture is designed to make the entire town feel like a European treasure. I’m telling you guys, I was practically skipping down the sidewalks to get to all the baguettes and espresso and wall murals. Add this one on to your list of must-see places to visit if you ever go to Washington, you just have to experience Leavenworth for yourself!
When you’re in a Bavarian village, you are obligated to eat bratwurst by the fire! Munchen Haus was delicious!
I’m not sure if they celebrate Christmas all winter long in Leavenworth or what, but the village becomes downright *magical* in the evening with all those twinkling lights!
Live music at Icicle Brewing Company!
My talented husband has been learning some manual shooting skills himself, and I just have to show off some of his photographs he captured in Leavenworth! He took these all by himself, I am so proud of him! Such a creative eye!
