Newport, Rhode Island – a nautical little town nestled in the harbor of the sea, where the salty air and sounds of the ocean greet you around every bend. Ben and I got to spend a wonderful few days here with Ben’s parents, and there’s just something about that ocean air that makes it hard to leave. The rows of boats docked at the harbor and the streets lined with boutique shops, restaurants, and chocolatiers invite you to relax and breathe a little deeper, soaking in all the sights and sounds Newport has to offer. We enjoyed live jazz at dinner, the scenic Cliff Walk, a sailboat ride, and so much more! While the guys went out fishing one morning, Betsy and I spent hours exploring the famous mansions of Newport, once home to the elite of society such as the Vanderbilts and the Berwinds. I wish photography had been allowed inside of the mansions so I could show you the astounding decor and architecture! If you have the time you should definitely take a look at the Newport Mansions website for a virtual tour of these homes, it is something to see! Enjoy some of my favorite images from our trip, and be sure to add Newport, Rhode Island on to your list of must-see travel destinations!
The Cliff Walk looked like it belonged somewhere in Ireland!
My mother-in-law’s maiden name is Betsy Owen, so we were excited to see this sign! Haha!
This panoramic view from our hotel rooftop was taken on my iPhone! It’s amazing the things you can do with a phone camera!
The Breakers, home of the Vanderbilt family, developer of the U.S. railroad. This was only their “summer cottage” though, so it was only used about 8-12 weeks a year!
