I get really excited when I hear about people going out on a limb and following their dreams.  My heart beats a little faster and everything in me wants to grab my old pompoms and stand on the sidelines cheering them on.  Cartwheels and everything, because being an entrepreneur can be a little scary!  And it feels a little easier when you’ve got people who believe in you and want you to succeed.  I met Marissa of Vintie Design Co.  last year when a mutual friend of ours was getting married, and I immediately liked this gal :)  Lucky for me we kept in touch, and I was ecstatic when she launched this wonderful new company of hers.  Like, I think I was probably creeping her out because as soon as she posted a picture of something new she was crafting on the Vintie Facebook page, I was hittin’ that LIKE button.  The scarves!  The U.S. city map coasters!  The repurposed flower planters!  It’s quite possible that Marissa may be the most creative person in existence.  So I just HAD to feature this crafty girl, because the whole world needs to know about Vintie Design Co!  Not only is she launching a business that people will love, but she’s using Vintie as a way to give back to others.  And it just doesn’t get any better than that.

Small businesses are the lifeblood of America in many ways, but most importantly in the releasing and satisfying of people’s dreams. I have always wanted to run my own business. I wanted to create, to give back, and to impact people’s lives. And so, Vintie Design Co. was born.  Vintie Design Co. repurposes and custom designs handmade, lifestyle items you can use everyday or for the biggest day of your life. Vintie Design Co. launches limited edition seasonal collections four times a year. The products made are designed and created by the Vintie Design Partners and me.  The name comes from the word INVITE, which is were this new passion got it’s spark, so I simply changed the letters around, because I liked that secretly every time I say Vintie Design Co I’m thinking about how I can Invite Design into my life.

 

When I married my wonderful husband in 2012 I was working an amazing 9- 5 job at a great church and was completely happy. I had been to ministry school and to college, tried a few different jobs and traveled abroad, then finally settled into what I though I would be doing for a long time. But, a hidden passion began stirring inside of me.  It all started as I dove into my creative side, making decor pieces for our home and delving into the world of custom wedding invitations. In these new hobbies I found that I loved to design. But, my true love was not just paper goods and pillows. It was a much broader love…a love to do something bigger. It was time to develop a plan and start my own business: Vintie Design Co.

 

 

We just welcomed our first baby into our family 3 months ago. This precious little boy changed my world and gave me the courage and determination to leave my 9-5 job and build Vintie Design Co. full time so that I can be a mother, as well as small business owner. It is not easy, yet daily I feel fulfilled.  Currently, I work out of a small space in our house, which is quickly being outgrown. I hand create or select each item that is sold through Vintie Design Co. Soon, I hope to have a larger studio/storage space to be able to accommodate the increasing number of sales and stock that we keep for Vintie Design Co.

With the help of Etsy.com we are able to host a lovely online shop to grow our sales and customer reach. Every item Vintie Design Co sells is handcrafted and detailed to meet the standard of excellence required by our wonderful customers. We believe in giving, so with each sale comes a 10% gift toward a charity, organization, or mission that we feel reflects God’s heart for people and tugs our heart too. Our website will highlight different projects we have given to and goals we are working toward.

 

The future vision along the entrepreneurial journey is to grow into an internationally branded company where designers and craftsmen from under-privileged situations can get a shot at building a more stable, productive, impactful life by becoming a Design Partner.  Design Partners collaborate with me on the seasonal collections and include in each collection some of their own design pieces. They profit from the sale of their design items and their partnership helps me to broaden the reach of Vintie Design Co. Another area you can get involved in is becoming a Supplier. Vintie Design Co also focuses on repurposing. Many materials that we use to repurpose are supplies made of wood, fabric, or metal that were trash to someone, but became treasure to Vintie. Repurposing keeps costs down, is wonderful for the environment, and increases our role as responsible stewards. I believe that with hard work and favor from God anyone’s dreams are possible.  I found my true passion through running my own business, and I hope that you also will be inspired to invite design into your life and discover the passion God created in you to do! 

 

 

Yesterday we launched the NEW website, and a chance to win a free portrait session!  Because all exciting things are even better with free stuff :)  I loved seeing everyone’s responses and how many people would love an opportunity to have this portrait session….but there was one comment submitted that just won me over.  This person has a wonderful story to share and these portraits are going to help reveal a lot of joy with the world!  And just to add to the joy, it’s still a surprise!!  Sooooo as of right now I can’t give away all the details and the identity of the lucky winner, but this person has been contacted and y’all are gonna find out soon enough!  Let me just say, I am SO EXCITED to be a part of this wonderful story, and it’s going to be awesome sharing it with all of you  SOON!!
