Introducing: Coaching Sessions!

Whether you’re a busy mom wishing you knew how to take better photographs of your kids, or a hobbyist photographer looking to take your skills to the next level – THIS POST IS FOR YOU!  I have been looking forward to sharing this news with you for a long time now, so it is with lots of excitement and clapping and cheering that I am thrilled to announce that I will now be offering CKP Coaching Sessions!  WOOO!  Over the past year or so, the number of emails I have received that start off with “I’d really love to learn how to ______” have been growing.  I figured it’s time to get official about all your questions and offer a solution that might be just what you need to improve your skills behind the camera and learn how to take photos that you LOVE!  This is a time where you get to sit down with me and ask about all the things you want to understand:  What is white balance?  Depth of field?  Why do photographers shoot with so many lenses?  What is ISO anyways?  Why do you always get so crazy about lighting?  How do you pose people in a session?  What do all these buttons do??  After we have some one-on-one Q&A time and probably some coffee, we’ll go out and actually practice what we just learned!  Because the number one way to learn about your camera is to USE IT!  Here’s the breakdown:

One hour of camera tutorial and Q&A with yours truly :)

One hour of hands-on shooting and headshot practice

$150

**a manual SLR camera will be most helpful to learn on, as there are limitations to what you can control with a point-and-shoot

Everyone is in a different place when it comes to what you know and understand, and what part of your camera makes sense and what is a foreign language.  Maybe it ALL seems like a foreign language to you!  And that’s ok.  You have to start somewhere, the important thing is that you are willing to learn!  Maybe you are a photographer who already understands the technical aspect of taking a photograph and you are more interested in learning how to direct a portrait session.  By no means do I know everything that there is to know about all things related to photography, but as someone who was once standing at square one with a borrowed Nikon D40 (thanks, Matt!) and an itch to learn, I understand that it can be difficult to learn from a camera manual.  Actually sitting and talking with a human who speaks in real life terms instead of textbook definitions would have been SO HELPFUL to me when I wanted to learn!

Please contact me if this is something you are interested in and we will set up a date!  Don’t think to yourself that you could never take good photographs, or you’ll never understand what all those buttons do, or you could never turn your hobby into something more.  Take the first step towards better photographs, I’d love to help!

Pictured here is Belinda, my very first coaching session last year!  Belinda is awesome, and such a great learner!  She is an engineer for Honda, but always wanted to pursue her interest in photography.  I had so much fun getting to know Belinda and answering some of her questions.  Be sure to check out her Facebook page so you can see some of her work!  So proud of how far this gal has come!
