I love coffee.  I don’t understand people who don’t love coffee.  How can one smell that delicious aroma brewing and not want to roll in coffee beans and just hold a hot cup of goodness in their hands?  Non-coffee drinkers will never make sense in the minds of coffee drinkers. Anyways, a few months ago I stopped at a new local coffee shop that had just opened up, and I was immediately intrigued by this small business.  As soon as you walk through the doors of The Daily Grind, you feel welcomed.  Smiling faces greet you behind the counter, the delicious brews mingle in the air, and don’t get me started on the cinnamon rolls!  I returned to The Daily Grind several more times, and each time I walked in those doors I couldn’t stop thinking that more people needed to know about this coffee shop – which it turns out is not just a business, but the dream of a couple who decided to take a leap of faith and make it a reality.  As I talked with Jim and Kathy, they shared their story with me and anytime small business owners share their story I feel inspired and warm and fuzzy inside that people are willing to take risks to make lifelong dreams a reality.  

 

So without further ado, please meet Jim and Kathy of The Daily Grind, located at 5998 Market Street in Boardman, OH!  Be sure to follow them on Facebook (they post the flavor of the day and you DEFINITELY don’t want to miss important info like that) and keep up with all the live music events they host at their shop.  Here’s a local business you need to get to know! 

 

 

The dream started several years ago with Jim.   He wanted a place where he could go to work and be his own boss and also have a place where he could play music..a love of not only his, but also a tradition in his family.   We actually looked at buying another cafe/coffee type place but the timing wasn’t right I guess, because we just couldn’t get it off the ground.   About 4 or 5 years later, Jim was going to the doctor and stopped in for a cup of coffee at the Daily Grind, Girard.  As he talked to the owner, it appeared as though it may become a possibility for his dream to happen.  After months of thinking, talking, and most of all praying it all came together.  With the help of family and friends (labor and love) we opened on Dec. 17th, 2012. 

 

 

We offer specialty coffees, (including lattes, cappuccinos and iced drinks)  iced tea, smoothies and more.

 

 

We have breakfast and lunch sandwiches, hummus (which we make here), as well as a variety of baked goods.  All baked goods are made at our shop, most of which include family recipes.  They include gourmet muffins, cinnamon rolls, kolachi (during holidays), biscotti, jumbo cookies, mini loaves of banana and lemon bread,  carrot cake, decadent brownies and more…

 

 

We take special orders for pastry trays, and we do gift baskets as well.  If you don’t have time to come inside to grab your morning coffee, just pull around to our convenient drive thru!
